Always / Melba Jo Chron (wife)

EC was the love of my life for 62 years.  It was love at first sight when Bettie Mae Wells, EC's aunt, introduced us in the hallway of Ralls Elementary School where I taught in November 1945.

EC was a wonderful and loving husband--kind, caring, generous and compassionate husband, father and grandfather.  I am what I am today because of his love, prayers, encouragement and support the last 62 years.  I could have never made it in this life without God and EC being by my side--protecting,encouraging, caring and loving me every step of the way.  I truly believe God sent me to Ralls, Texas to teach and sent EC and the Chron family into my life, for which I am most grateful.

I'm looking forward to our happy reunion in the near future.  I'll be loving EC "Always" (mine and EC's song since March 30, 1946).  Irving Berlin's song "Always" carries a perfect message about marriage:

"I'll be loving you, always.  With a love that's true, always.
Days may not be fair, always.  That's when I'll be there, always.
Not for just an hour, not for just a day,
Not for just a year, but always, always."

My Dear Friend  / Kirby Robinson (Friend and Brother in Christ )
To Jo and family: Thank you for sharing E. C. with me these many years. He was my spiritual Father and always set the Christian example for me to live up to. We had some wonderful times in the Lord as we traveled from place to place leading in revivals and sharing our faith with others. E.C. was always ready to reach out to others and help them find their way to Christ.

Although he thoroughly enjoyed life and his family, which he dearly loved, he always had his faith set on being with God someday. One of his favorite songs he had me sing all the time was "Soon and Very Soon, I am going to see the King". What a testimony about life he had.  E.C.: I too am looking forward to being where you are where there is no more crying and no more dying. Halleluia, I am going to see the King! Close

Memories of E. C. "North of 48"  / Judy Rice (co-worker in AK )
I am praying for the family in the "homegoing" of E. C., for while we can rejoice  in the fact He is "home" with no sickness or pain, etc., it does not prevent us who knew & loved him to feel sorrow in missing his physical presence. While I had not seen him for some time, when learning of his death, I immediately thought of many times when I first came to AK that E. C. popped into the Baptist Building, a tiny house on 7th Ave. in Anchorage, to chat, share info, etc. And I also thought of the Chuugach Challenge in which he wrote of missions endeavors through our Associational Newsletter!
I'm grateful to have known the Chrons along with Virgil & June and their family here. God bless, & may the Lord continue to bring joy to your hearts as you remember all the good times with E. C. I will be remembering you on the 5th! In His Love, Judy Close

Say hi to mom & dad  / Sharon Bostick (cousin (Betty Chron Wells Granddaughter) )

My mom and dad dearly loved E. C.  We have audio tapes my dad made before he died.  His fondest memories were of the "Chron bunch".  I loved E. C. and hope he is having a joyful reunion in heaven with my parents.

I got your nose!  / Belinda Chron (granddaughter)
I don't know why I remember this, but I remember when I was younger and we would visit Grandma and Grandpa, that Grandpa would always play these fun little games with me.  One game was "I got your nose!"  He would grab my nose and then pull back a fist with the end of his thumb extended between his forefinger and middle finger.  He would then proclaim, "Where is Belinda's nose??  I got her nose!"  I would laugh, try to get my "nose" back and then finally he would "reattach" it.  Ah those were the days before the Wii.  :)

A MAN OF GOD  / Nelda Rogers Bartley (friend)  Read >>
A MAN OF GOD  / Nelda Rogers Bartley (friend)
I have known the Chron's ever since EC pastored our church at Northside Baptist in Abernathy. My Mother, Nadine Rogers, always kept in contact with EC and Jo and our church has continued to keep the Chron Family in our prayers even after the death of my Mother.

EC definitely was a man of God who walked the walk and talked the talk. He was a man after God's own heart.

I know that His family and friends are going to miss him dearly, but the angels in Heaven are having a glorious celebration right now.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Jo, Clint, Josa, Deanna, Tami and the rest of the family.

In Christian Love,
Nelda Rogers Bartley Close

Will Miss you!  / Sheila Adams (niece)

Uncle EC will be greatly missed.  I know he touched my life.  He was the kindest man I have ever known and never judged.  Always had a way of telling you like it was.  He loved fishing for flounder, and I will always remember watching him try to snag those darn flounder, which are hard to catch, but he loved it. :)  We will miss him so much.  Love you Aunt Jo.  Sheila, Dustin and Niki  (Ivan's daughter and grandkids)
